ベーシックカンバゼイションナイト
2015年今年の夏、ここNew World Englishにてベーシックカンバゼイションナイトを行いました。この夜の目的は、ﾍﾞｰｼｯｸレベルの生徒の方々を対象に、自己紹介や他の生徒さん達との交流を英会話で楽しんでいただき、ネイティブの先生達と英語で話すことでした。自己紹介の際には、生徒の方々にはBasics of English Conversation text bookから５つのレッスンユニットを使ってもらいました。

みなさんには、前もってこの５つのユニットをカンバゼイションナイトに向けてレッスン中から練習して暗記してもらっていました。 このように、ベーシックカンバゼイションナイトの目的は、生徒の方々に実際の社交の場において、レッスンで習ったことをテキストやメモなしで練習する機会をもってきただくことでした。たとえば、生徒のみなさんは、海外旅行をされて英語を話す際には、ただご自分の能力と感覚に頼るしかないのです。
みなさんには、教室の中やトーマスタワー２５階の広々としたバルコニー内でそれぞれ交流をしていただきました。私はみなさんが本当に楽しんでくださっているようで、とてもうれしかったです。なんと、ほぼ全員が午前１時30分までクラスルームにいました。イベントは午後７時から始まりましたので、ほとんどの方が６時間半以上もの間、英語を話し続けていたことになります。これまでここNew World English内で行ったイベントの中でも、断然、今回が長時間ものとなりました。
このイベントの後、英語学習をされている方にとってこのようなイベントは自信をつけるため、そして流暢に話せるようになるためにも大切なことだと思いました。
英語学習をされている方には、教室で新しい言葉を勉強するための指導と同じくらい、実際の社交の場で今まで学んだことを練習して確実にしていく機会が必要です。
それゆえ、これからも私たちは初級、中級、上級レベルにおいて定期的にこのようなカンバゼイションナイトを行っていきたいと思います。このイベントに参加してくださったみなさんに感謝いたします。

これまでここニューワールドイングリッシュで行ったイベントの中でも、断然、今回が長時間のものとなりました。
S.T. is by far the longest
このフレーズは、何か、もしくは誰かが最も速い、や、最も高い、や、一番すばらしい、や、最も美しいだけでなく、他を超越した状態を現すときに使われます。言い換えると、最も素晴らしい。このフレーズは何か実際にあるものを、例１や例２の様に表現したり、または例３の様に個人的な意見を強調する際に使われます。

300km per hour whereas other high speed trains travel at 120km per hour.
新幹線は日本の列車の中で断然速い。時速３００キロで走り、他の特急列車は時速１２０キロ程度で走る。

634m tall so it is by far the tallest tower in Japan.
日本の平均的なタワーの高さは３００メートルである。東京スカイツリーは６３４メートルで、日本では断然高いタワーだ。

greatest film director in Japanese history.
黒沢明は日本の歴史上、群を抜いて素晴らしい映画監督だ。（この様に個人的な意見を強調したい時に使うこともできます。）

ENGLISH VERSION
This summer 2015, here at New World English, we held Basic Conversation Night. The objective
of this night was for students of the basic level to enjoy English conversation
by introducing themselves to and mingling with other students as well as speak
English with native English teachers.
When introducing themselves, students used the language from 5 Lesson
Units from the Basics of English Conversation text book:

3: Introducing Your Country
Unit
4: Talking About Your Experiences
Unit
5: Talking Things You Like
Unit 7: Talking About Your Job
All of the students in advance practiced
and memorized these 5 Units during the lessons leading up to Basic Conversation
Night. Thus, the purpose of Basic
Conversation Night was to give students the opportunity to practice what they
had learned in the lessons, in a real social situation, without the aid of a
text book or any notes, in other words, the students simply had to rely on
their own ability and sense as they would in when travelling abroad and
speaking English.
The students mingled around the classroom
as well as the spacious corner balcony on the 25th floor of Thomas Tower. I was very glad because it looked like
everyone really enjoyed the night since almost everyone stayed until 1:30am!!! The event began at 7pm so most of the students
stayed and spoke English for 6 and a half hours! Out of all of the events we have had here at
New World English, this was by far the longest!!!
After this event, I realized the importance
of such an event to an English learner’s development toward becoming a confidant
and fluent speaker. English learners require both, in class
instruction in order to study new language, as well as the opportunity to concretely
practice what they had learned in the lessons in real social situations. For this reason we will regularly hold
Conversation Night for the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Levels. Thanks to all who participated in this event!
